| Lorenzo G. Walker,
M.D. has restricted his practice to surgery of the hand and upper
extremity here in Ventura County since 1989. Dr. Walker received
his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and
subsequently his medical degree from Harvard University in 1982.
After two years of general surgery training, he completed his
orthopaedic residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program in
1988.
Dr. Walker relocated to the Los Angeles area for a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the UCLA Medical Center. After becoming board certified in orthopaedic surgery and elected diplomat of the American Board in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Walker received the Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand in 1993. He was subsequently elected to both the prestigious American Society for Surgery of the Hand, as well as the American Association for Hand Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Walker remains on the faculty of the UCLA Medical Center as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Walker is a member of numerous medical associations and societies including the California Orthopaedic Association, Western Orthopaedic Association, Los Angeles Area Hand Club, and the Internal Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand. He has also been approved by the State of California as a Supervisor of Physician's Assistants and a Qualified Medical Evaluator. Dr. Walker has published over twenty scientific publications in the field of hand surgery and has made innumerable local, national, and international lectures and presentations, and has also served as a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and related research. Dr. Walker has the keen interest and years of experience in all aspects of surgery of the upper extremity including the treatment of congenital, arthritic, reconstructive, and over-use problems. He has had advanced training in the performance of endoscopic carpal tunnel releases and is one of the most knowledgeable physicians int he County on insurance and workers' compensation issues. Dr. Walker's hobbies include his photographs, which adorn the walls of his office, as well as sports, fishing, and jazz music. |
